Rick Riordan
A proposito di questo titolo
New York Times number one best-selling author Rick Riordan pays homage to Jules Verne in his exciting modern take on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
"If you have ever craved a story that will leave your heart racing, your lungs gasping from the numerous twists and turns, your soul heaving from the effort of now carrying an ensemble cast, you will find all that and more in these pages." (New York Times best-selling author Roshani Chokshi)
Ana Dakkar is a freshman at Harding-Pencroft Academy, a five-year high school that graduates the best marine scientists, naval warriors, navigators, and underwater explorers in the world. Ana's parents died while on a scientific expedition two years ago, and the only family's she's got left is her older brother, Dev, also a student at HP. Ana's freshman year culminates with the class' weekend trial at sea, the details of which have been kept secret. She only hopes she has what it'll take to succeed. All her worries are blown out of the water when, on the bus ride to the ship, Ana and her schoolmates witness a terrible tragedy that will change the trajectory of their lives.
But wait, there's more. The professor accompanying them informs Ana that their rival school, Land Institute, and Harding-Pencroft have been fighting a cold war for 150 years. Now that cold war has been turned up to a full broil, and the freshman are in danger of becoming fish food. In a race against deadly enemies, Ana will make amazing friends and astounding discoveries about her heritage as she puts her leadership skills to the test for the first time.
Rick Riordan's trademark humor, fast-paced action, and wide cast of characters are on full display in this undersea adventure.

Great book and great performance!
I spent 1 week reading the book and the second week listening to the audio. I really enjoyed both! Maybe I'll spend the third week switching from one to the other ;)

Riordan strikes again
Gotta say, I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would (let's just say that I didn't like Verne's books in hs and wasn't sure whether anything related would get over that..), but I should have trusted Riordan more, especially since it's thanks to him I started reading books for fun
Anyway, while I do have a few gripes with the plot, I found it overall to be very enjoyable and plenty of times I found myself so caught up with the story I just *had* to listen 5 minutes more, then 5 again and so on
The characters are well written (although the antagonist was very obvious from the start, as I ended up guessing who it was and how they were tracking the group very early on), Ana especially so, and there's even an autistic character! Worry not though, that she's autistic isn't her one trait, she is just as fleshed out as the other characters, but the rep was very much appreciated (now all I want from Riordan is some Ace or Aro rep in the form of a main character lol)
The humor and writing style are Riordan's usual ones, so if you've read Percy Jackson or Kane Chronicles and liked them, you'll probably like this one too
Now onto the audiobook-only aspects: haven't got much to say except that the VA did great and the background music added to important scenes made the experience even more enjoyable (idk if it's a common thing now, but it's the first audiobook I've listened to that had some kind of soundtrack), to the point that I listened on repeat said scenes lol
