The Florida Classic was a sight to see for those in attendance and the centerpiece of a successful weekend for those who really cherish the rivalry with Bethune Cookman University as the Wildcats were 0-2 against FAMU on the athletic everything.

But that is not the full story for the weekend, FAMU Men’s Basketball was able to get a win while the Lady Rattlers stayed in Orlando until Sunday but left with a tough loss.

You can’t win them all but you sure as heck want to.

Welp it’s been over a thousand days since FAMU lost to BCU.

In what can be explained as nothing more than a nightmare in Bragg Memorial Stadium the Rattlers gave the Devils an opening and had Hell to pay.

And again the Number 21 stinks in the minds of the FAMU faithful.

On the other side of things FAMU Volleyball has won the SWAC but that success is definitely overshadowed by the outcome in Bragg.

With an upset loss to Prairie View on the gridiron and a Jackson State win, it is safe to say that we can prepare to turn the page on the 2024 Football season.

But this loss definitely showed us some things going into the new season while also making it abundantly clear that this team is hinged on the success of one position more than any others.

While the Football team is destined to experience postseason from the couch the FAMU Volleyball team continues in a position to close the season with a SWAC Championship.

And the FAMU basketball team will take some lumps until conference play begins.

It’s over said, but there is no place like home!

Homecoming was pure pageantry.

The parties, the tailgate, then of course the game itself.

The entire weekend was magical and anyone not wearing supporting FAMU was definitely cooked as the children would say.

The most memorable plays of the Southern University vs FAMU football games were definitely provided by the Special Teams and Offense.

But the defense held it down during the game and honestly kept the team in the game for the majority of the Jackson State game in the previous week.

But the offense was again on the precipice of again scoring a meager Twenty-One (21) points in the game, seven (7) of those points were from the special team unit.

On the flip side the volleyball team was able to again get another win which keeps them in first place as we kickoff homecoming week.

The week is filled with good times and parties and while I hope you got your pre-game routine right, the one rule for any party goer is to never be on time.
