Now in her 50’s, she has been in a relationship with a woman for two years but she still doesn't feel safe to come out to everyone in her life, including her parents. 

This episode Sarah tells Sophie about how she discovered she was attracted to women and the hurt this discovery caused, but why she would do it all over again to find herself.

Carren Strock was 43 when she attended a local book club and met the woman who left her with a life changing questions... "is it her, or am I a lesbian."

The author and pioneer went on to write one of the most prolific pieces of queer literature, a groundbreaking book called Married Women Who Love Women, first published in the 1990's and now in it's third edition.

The book started as a way for Carren to feel less alone, and it has helped thousands of people feel the same around the world. 

She joins Sophie from her home in New York, to chat about the book, her coming out journey, and her relationship with her husband who she is still married to decades on.

Maria Thattil was in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by mozzies, camp mates and TV cameras when she came out publicly for the first time. 

She returned home to her family with two big announcements, she had earned herself a book deal, and that she was bisexual. 

Growing up in a very religious family, Maria always knew she felt different but couldn’t quite pinpoint what those feelings were. This episode she joins Sophie to talk about all the ways her world opened up when she started to embrace her bisexuality, and all the things she has learnt about herself and society along the way.
