  • What's Draining Your Bucket
    Nov 14 2024

Welcome back to Woman Made Well! Today, I’m exploring a topic that hits close to home: managing depression and anxiety while balancing the demands of daily life. I’ll be sharing my favorite metaphor, the “bucket of water”, to help us better understand these feelings and approach them with patience.

Think of your ability to handle life’s challenges as a bucket filled with water. We use that water to put out daily “fires”, like work stress or family demands. But for many of us, we’re starting each day with a nearly empty bucket, leaving us drained. Recently, I spoke with a client who seemed happy but was constantly feeling irritable with her loved ones—simply because her bucket was already running dry.

In this episode, I’ll share practical tips on how to stop the drain and refill your bucket, so you can show up as your best self without guilt or burnout.

  • Reclaiming Your Worth as “A Good Mom”
    Nov 7 2024

Thank you for joining me on this first official episode of Woman Made Well!

Today I'll be diving into a common struggle that so many mothers face, and that is the feeling of not being a "good mom." I’ll share a touching story of an experience I had with a client on this topic and why this is such a recurrent issue in deeply caring mothers.

The transition to motherhood often leaves us feeling overwhelmed and unprepared, and I'll unpack how unrealistic expectations from social media, friends, and even well-meaning family can contribute to this struggle. Along with some helpful advice I share with patients surrounding your growth mindset and progress as a parent, I’m here to remind and reassure you that as long as fundamental requirements are met simply by meeting your baby's basic needs, you are doing a great job!

By the end of this episode, my hope is that you'll be able to redefine your self-worth, not by an unrealistic standard of perfection, but by the love and dedication you pour into caring for your child. You are already the perfect mom for your baby, never forget that!

If this episode resonated with you, I encourage you to share it with a friend who might enjoy it as well, so we can continue to work together to build a supportive space for women to thrive in motherhood.

  • Welcome to Woman Made Well
    Nov 7 2024

Welcome to your first look at ‘Woman Made Well’ with Candice Wood, a podcast that empowers women through the highs and lows of pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed or isolated, this is your supportive space and I am so excited to dive into this with you!

In this short introductory episode, I’ll be sharing my beautiful journey through medical school, choosing to become a dedicated OB/GYN and connecting deeply with patients. After having my first child and experiencing postpartum for myself, I’d come to realize I needed to change the way I provided care for my patients and wanted to prepare them for life after pregnancy in a new way.

I’ll touch on 2 powerful moments I had with patients that would also open my eyes to eventually exploring advanced certifications and education in helping mothers get the help they need surrounding postpartum depression, anxiety and mental health much sooner.

I am so inspired by the strength of the women I get to talk to and help navigate motherhood with, and I’ll explain my passion and goal behind this podcast. Thank you for joining me on this new adventure and I hope you leave feeling encouraged! It would mean so much to me if you could share, like and review this podcast, so it can get to more women like yourself!
